Wishing all the women reading this blog a Very Happy Women's Day! Enjoy the parties, discounts and special offers that everyone has in store for you!
And the men who have accidentally stumbled upon this blog... I can understand it's the same day for you...nothing special yet you would be wishing every women you come across today... maybe offering her some gift or a token and may be feeling jealous too...for not being the fairer sex!
I was wondering, In India when we worship Shiva-Shakti or Ardhanarishwara, we accept the fact that men and women compliment each other then why we need to celebrate Women's Day and if we do then why not celebrate Men's Day also? Men are a significant part of our life. They have their own strengths and we have our own.
In ancient times, during the Vedic period, women were considered equal to men and actually treated as Shakti. None of the rituals were concluded without the presence of the woman and then over a period of time, women were suppressed and were being treated as the weaker sex. This all lead to all the Women Empowerment Movements, Feminist Movements but again a time has come when women are again treated equal to men. The first Women's Day was celebrated more than 100 years ago demanding equal rights for women... going by that idea, the initial concept of Women's Day has become redundant in most parts of the world and has become more of a marketing campaign now.
I would rather look for a day when there is no need to celebrate any particular gender and all 365 days would be treated as same as should be men and women. Men and women have their own strengths and weaknesses and they can easily survive without the other but it is when the two come together the life moves forward. A lot of time we see the argument that woman is the one who gives birth to a man but for that also she needs a man to plant the seed. If woman is the nurturer, man is the provider. That is also not a stereotype and we can see the role reversal in lot of cases where men prefer to stay at home and women go out to work.
Why do we need to celebrate achievements of women only? Men also work equally hard to achieve a milestone. Let's celebrate both. A lot of people post things like "Blessed are those women whose first child is a daughter"... I wonder how about those women whose first child is a son? Aren't they blessed? Why can't we just celebrate motherhood irrespective of the gender of the child. Another thing that is seen often is during the process of women empowerment, are we trying to suppress men? Why can't we just teach both the genders to respect each other and give them their due credits.
Both need the support of each other to move ahead in life... none is stronger and none is weaker, the only thing is to acknowledge the strengths of other that can help you overcome your weakness.

Maybelline New York was probably one of the first few brands I tried when I started with makeup. And whenever I see a newly launched makeup product from Maybelline, it's like a Must Try and the brand has now become 'the makeup equivalent' of Comfort Food. So no matter, how many luxury brands I try or work with, sometimes you find comfort in going back to this easily accessible, pocket friendly brand that gives unbelievable results.
In so many years, there are few Maybelline products that have become a must have for me and I recommend them for any makeup enthusiast or a newbie...
Let me come directly to my list of products
1. The Nudes Eye shadow Palette (Price- ₹899)
This palette is no less than a dupe for UD's Naked Palette... just like some pretty shades picked up from Naked and Naked2 palettes and put together in this one. If you are not willing to spend close to 10k for 2 Naked palettes, this one is for you... in less than 1/10 cost.
The color payoff is pretty good. It has a mix of matte and shimmery shades, the colours range from chalk, flesh, gold, bronze, taupe, dark brown and charcoal. It is a one must have palette for any one!
2. Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner (Price- ₹525)
An eyeliner that doesn't budge from its place till you take it off using a makeup remover. I love to use this one as an eyeliner and also on the waterline as kaajal.. and it does stays put... even after 10 hours. Also it is super smooth and glides very well with the brush that is included with the liner. Comparing the price with M.A.C Fluidline, it comes at almost 1/3 the price.
3. Volum' Express The HyperCurl Mascara (Price-₹325)
Since Mascara is one makeup product that has to be discarded every 3-6 months to prevent any kind of infection in the eyes, a lot of people I meet are not very comfortable splurging on a Mascara that they won't be using much and will have to discard soon.
So this HyperCurl Volum' Express comes to the rescue. At 325 bucks, it gives a decent curl and volume to the lashes without being clumpy... what else anyone asks from their mascaras??
4. Color Sensational Lip Gradation (Price- ₹500)
So Lip gradation lipstick can be used to give a shaded effect on the lips as it comes with a spongy applicator. What I love about this lipstick is the smooth texture. It comes like a retractable crayon and gives high intensity color in one stroke. It stays on for the whole day and the only problem I have faced is that after 5-6 hours, it starts to dry my lips. So to overcome this, I have started slathering my lips with lip balm before I start with my makeup and by the time I dress up and come to applying the lipstick (it takes around 10-12 minutes), most of the lipbalm is already absorbed and your lips are soft, smooth and supple.
It comes in 2 shades of Red, 2 shades of Pink, one orange, one fuchsia, one coral and one mauve. My Favorites are both Pinks, Pink1 and Pink2 and Red1.
5. Clean Express Total Clean Makeup Remover (Price- ₹300)
Cleaning off the makeup is very important part of skincare regime. Again, a lot of people do not want to splurge on a makeup remover. So this makeup remover from Maybelline is a beautiful product that help to takes off all the waterproof eye and lip makeup. It is also very gentle to eyes. This was my first makeup remover and is still a favorite.
Where to get these products?
All the products are available at the Maybelline New York counters at various department stores. One can also get these online from Maybelline India website (https://www.maybelline.co.in/) or from Nykaa (http://www.nykaa.com/maybelline-brand-store?intcmp=brand_menu|most_viewed|maybelline)

Let's start from where we left in the previous post (Read here) As goes the quote 'The Best Thing is to Look Natural, But It Takes Makeup to Look Natural"- Calvin Klein
I completely agree with this... sometime in your life you feel putting on a little make up makes you look better. If you are blessed with a beautiful skin, nothing like it... you may not mind going sans make up in your youth. A light lip color or lip gloss with a bit of mascara will do the job most of the time.
But as you start growing old and the skin starts to age, gets pigmented or dark spots start to appear, there are dark circles under the eye... make up becomes more important, along with regular skin care to achieve the youthful look again. A little make up never hurts rather it makes you look fresh and young and who does not want that???
If you are not yet convinced, let me share a couple of more ways in which makeup can help-
1. Makeup products like foundation, concealer, powder etc. form a kind of protective layer on the skin and prevents your skin to come in direct contact with dust and pollutants.
2. After having makeup on for the whole day, you are "motivated" to deep clean your face and are able to take off all the dust and gunk settled on your face.
Am I able to convince you yet??
If done properly, with makeup, you still look like yourself... not artificial or masked but just a little more pleasant, youthful and polished
Do you think applying make up make any difference in the way you come across to others??... Do leave a comment and share your thoughts...
Till then, Keep reading for more...
