Maybelline New York was probably one of the first few brands I tried when I started with makeup. And whenever I see a newly launched makeup product from Maybelline, it's like a Must Try and the brand has now become 'the makeup equivalent' of Comfort Food. So no matter, how many luxury brands I try or work with, sometimes you find comfort in going back to this easily accessible, pocket friendly brand that gives unbelievable results.
In so many years, there are few Maybelline products that have become a must have for me and I recommend them for any makeup enthusiast or a newbie...
Let me come directly to my list of products
1. The Nudes Eye shadow Palette (Price- ₹899)
This palette is no less than a dupe for UD's Naked Palette... just like some pretty shades picked up from Naked and Naked2 palettes and put together in this one. If you are not willing to spend close to 10k for 2 Naked palettes, this one is for you... in less than 1/10 cost.
The color payoff is pretty good. It has a mix of matte and shimmery shades, the colours range from chalk, flesh, gold, bronze, taupe, dark brown and charcoal. It is a one must have palette for any one!
2. Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner (Price- ₹525)
An eyeliner that doesn't budge from its place till you take it off using a makeup remover. I love to use this one as an eyeliner and also on the waterline as kaajal.. and it does stays put... even after 10 hours. Also it is super smooth and glides very well with the brush that is included with the liner. Comparing the price with M.A.C Fluidline, it comes at almost 1/3 the price.
3. Volum' Express The HyperCurl Mascara (Price-₹325)
Since Mascara is one makeup product that has to be discarded every 3-6 months to prevent any kind of infection in the eyes, a lot of people I meet are not very comfortable splurging on a Mascara that they won't be using much and will have to discard soon.
So this HyperCurl Volum' Express comes to the rescue. At 325 bucks, it gives a decent curl and volume to the lashes without being clumpy... what else anyone asks from their mascaras??
4. Color Sensational Lip Gradation (Price- ₹500)
So Lip gradation lipstick can be used to give a shaded effect on the lips as it comes with a spongy applicator. What I love about this lipstick is the smooth texture. It comes like a retractable crayon and gives high intensity color in one stroke. It stays on for the whole day and the only problem I have faced is that after 5-6 hours, it starts to dry my lips. So to overcome this, I have started slathering my lips with lip balm before I start with my makeup and by the time I dress up and come to applying the lipstick (it takes around 10-12 minutes), most of the lipbalm is already absorbed and your lips are soft, smooth and supple.
It comes in 2 shades of Red, 2 shades of Pink, one orange, one fuchsia, one coral and one mauve. My Favorites are both Pinks, Pink1 and Pink2 and Red1.
5. Clean Express Total Clean Makeup Remover (Price- ₹300)
Cleaning off the makeup is very important part of skincare regime. Again, a lot of people do not want to splurge on a makeup remover. So this makeup remover from Maybelline is a beautiful product that help to takes off all the waterproof eye and lip makeup. It is also very gentle to eyes. This was my first makeup remover and is still a favorite.

Let's start from where we left in the previous post (Read here) As goes the quote 'The Best Thing is to Look Natural, But It Takes Makeup to Look Natural"- Calvin Klein
I completely agree with this... sometime in your life you feel putting on a little make up makes you look better. If you are blessed with a beautiful skin, nothing like it... you may not mind going sans make up in your youth. A light lip color or lip gloss with a bit of mascara will do the job most of the time.
But as you start growing old and the skin starts to age, gets pigmented or dark spots start to appear, there are dark circles under the eye... make up becomes more important, along with regular skin care to achieve the youthful look again. A little make up never hurts rather it makes you look fresh and young and who does not want that???
If you are not yet convinced, let me share a couple of more ways in which makeup can help-
1. Makeup products like foundation, concealer, powder etc. form a kind of protective layer on the skin and prevents your skin to come in direct contact with dust and pollutants.
2. After having makeup on for the whole day, you are "motivated" to deep clean your face and are able to take off all the dust and gunk settled on your face.
Am I able to convince you yet??
If done properly, with makeup, you still look like yourself... not artificial or masked but just a little more pleasant, youthful and polished
Do you think applying make up make any difference in the way you come across to others??... Do leave a comment and share your thoughts...

Signing off with one of my favorite quotes by Bobbi Brown
Being in a profession where you talk makeup day in and day out, one tends to meet a lot of people with their own views about makeup, cosmetics etc. Here, I like to classify people in four categories-
1. Those who love makeup and put it on almost everyday (atleast 4-5 times a week)
2. Those who love makeup and put it on only for occasions
3. Those who like makeup but avoid putting it on for various reasons
4. Those who are anti-makeup
Let me also tell you some reasons why those who don't apply makeup strongly believe in not doing so. These reasons I have often heard from people belonging to group 3 and group 4 during my workshops and personal sessions.
While those who love makeup (read group 1 and group 2) feel-
I feel make up does bring in a glow to your face but more important than applying make up is to apply it on a well-cared-for skin, match the colour of base (foundation/ concealers) and to apply those colors (eye shadow/ lipstick) that look good on you. Otherwise the effect will not be that great.
Will talk about this in more detail in my next post...
What are your views about make-up... yes or no? Which group do you belong to? and why or why not? Do leave a comment and share.

Makeup for a lot of women (specially in India) mean Lipstick and Kaajal. You ask any random person what she uses in Makeup and there are high chances that you'll hear 'just lipstick and Kaajal'... and I get to hear that almost everyday! Hence, I decided to help women move beyond Lipstick and Kaajal and explore other beautiful stuff like concealers and mascaras!
